Project Name:

Counselling and Education Project in the Treatment, Early Intervention and Prevention of Problem Grambling.

Brief Description:

In utilizing psychological counselling, education and supportive processes, the project aims to minimise the adversity of problem gambling impacting on individuals, families and the community; and to prevent the onset of problem gambling by fostering effective life skills in self-management and building relationships.

Objectives:

1) Reduce the adversity of problem gambling affecting gamblers and their families through counselling.

2) Conduct counselling for individuals and families who are at-risk of developing problem gambling.

3) Promote protective measures against the development of problem gambling to recreational gamblers / interested community members through personal and family development education.

Target Group:

Chinese-speaking families and individuals in Sydney.

Implementation:

A. Counselling Service

1) Gambling counselling for problem gamblers and gamblers' significant others

2) Individual and family counselling in addressing issues in life development, holistic health and stressors which impact on people's ability in making choices, solving problems and forming meaningful relationships

B. Education Service

The theme of educatioin as fostered by the Life Management Course(LMC) concentrates on increasing self-awareness and effective life skills for the enhancement of holistic health and interpersonal relationship.
